Country music finds its roots among these hills and along the high plateau, where songwriters and yarnspinners found inspiration for many a tale in the beauty and people they found around them. As your story of East Tennessee unfolds, it’s a good idea to sample some of that inspiration yourself by enjoying a “Blue Plate Special” served up daily by WDVX-FM in Downtown Knoxville, a walk in the woods to the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, testing the waters on the Tennessee River, or another favorite pastime of East Tennesseeans – Saturday afternoon tailgating before the Volunteers take the field.
